Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income

The Social Security Administration administers two long term disability programs.

Both are long term disability programs designed to help the disabled by providing benefits and insurance.

Social Security Disability Income* (SSDI)

Social Security Disability Income or SSDI pays you a monthly benefit based upon what you have paid into the system through the FICA*** taxes you pay when you work. These benefits are paid out of the Social Security Trust Fund.

Social Security Disability has a very specific, detailed process to determine if you meet the requirements to receive benefits. The application process can take as long as three years. Using a lawyer significantly improves your chances of receiving the benefits you deserve.

Social Security Disability Income is a program designed for working people who have paid FICA*** taxes throughout their working life. It pays you a monthly benefit based on what you have paid into the system. This program also provides you with Medicare benefits for your health insurance.
