Social Security Disability Income (SSDI)

Social Security Disability Income, or SSDI, pays you a monthly benefit based upon what you have paid into the system through the FICA taxes you pay when you work.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, is a program designed for people who have become disabled and have not paid enough into the system to become eligible to receive Social Security Disability Income or who are no longer insured for SSD benefits. It is designed to provide basic needs for living.

In 2021, the individual benefit is $794, and $1,191 for an eligible individual with a spouse.
